The Life of I
The quote by Neil Degrasse Tyson, “I have a personal philosophy in life: If somebody else can do something that I'm doing, they should do it. And what I want to do is find things that would represent a unique contribution to the world - the contribution that only I, and my portfolio of talents, can make happen. Those are my priorities in life.” depicts my ideas toward my set of capabilities and talents. As an artist and open-minded individual, and just as Mr. Tyson stated, I believe that most people out there can do what I can. However, I am my own person with my own unique capabilities and ambitions. I am willing to contribute these qualities to the world when I encounter an opportunity. These qualities are my artistic genius, determination, advising people, and of course open-mindedness.
As a child, I was always fond of art, mostly fine art. I saw art as an escape portal of reality through which I could escape from any overwhelming experience I underwent. Art was also there whenever I felt on top of the world. Everyone around me would complement my art, which served as an empowerment to continue doing what I love. I built confidence from all the positive feedback and the passion my art has brought me that if anyone were to bash me for it I would not care. This talent and hobby has made me stronger and quite recognized. My mom once told me that my grandmother was also an avid artist. Since I have always thought I was the only artist in my family, I was thrilled to the revelation, now I know where my intrinsic talent comes from. I do not only admire drawings and paintings, but I also find music, dancing, and acting very interesting, after all, they are considered art too.
I can describe myself as a very resolute person. When I put my mind and heart to something I never give up until it is accomplished. People are usually amazed at how determined I am when they see me get the job done. Especially my bosom friend, Elizabeth. She is astonished when I complete a difficult task others would rather dispose of. I also encourage my friends to have determination, as it is one of the few ways to stay balanced. Nevertheless, it is not so easy to maintain that unwavering state; there have been times when I change my focus. I have set some major goals aside and fallen into a pit of distractions and such. Yet, I believe my determination is strong enough to set me back on track. I may sometimes procrastinate and lose my focus, but I always find my way back.
I enjoy guiding people caught in any predicament. I believe it is my good listening skills, which allow me to help people. I am not that much of an extrovert, so I do not communicate much with people, but it is my understanding of a situation that leads me to handing them some advice. I am one of the few people my friends and family come to when they need someone for advice. I can easily put myself in others’ shoes and think my way through.
I am empathetic, artistic, and determined, but overall I am I. Fine art influences the way I view the world and has shaped who I am today. My determination has helped me keep myself in balance and achieve my objectives. I cannot profess enough how much I love giving advice to people. I am proud about these and many other qualities. I have accomplished getting great grades in my art projects at school and guiding my friends when they are lost. Making friends at school and events has helped me keep in touch with the social butterfly inside of me. I am on the journey of life and I am determined to become an inspirational figure one day. Wherever I go I will remember where I come from and how it has shaped me into the person I am today.
